MINNEAPOLIS (9/22/05) -- Jacob Helling (Sr., Brookings, S.D.) scored in the 59th minute for Hamline University, and Andrew Connor (So., Becket, Mass./North Muskegon (Mich.) HS) tied the game in the 84th minute for Augsburg College, as the teams played to a 1-1 tie in two overtimes in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer game Thursday night at Augsburg's Edor Nelson Field.

The game was rescheduled after being postponed due to severe weather on Wednesday (9/21) evening. Augsburg is now 2-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in MIAC play, while Hamline is now 4-1-1 overall, 1-0-1 in MIAC play.

After a scoreless first half, Helling put the Pipers on the board first, making a move around a defender in the box off a left-side feed by Steven Dupic (Sr., Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington HS) and putting the ball past Augsburg goalkeeper Pascaul Venter (Fr., Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS).

But Augsburg tied the game late in regulation time on a scramble in front of the Piper net. Ryley Teske (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./Bloomington Lutheran HS) flicked the ball past Hamline goalkeeper Andrew Clement (So., Victoria, Minn./Minnetonka HS), and Connor was able to deposit the loose ball into the open net.

Hamline outshot Augsburg by a 6-2 margin in the two overtime periods, gaining a 13-10 margin in shots. Venter made five saves to score the tie for the Auggies, while Clement made two saves for the Pipers.

Aaron Riedel * (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) had three shots for the Auggies, while Connor and Teske had two shots each.

Nathan Anderson (So., Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) had three shots for Hamline, with Helling, Andrew Helling (Sr., Brookings, S.D.), Tony Vang (Sr., St. Paul, Minn./Harding HS) and Josh Faust (So., White Bear Lake, Minn.) collecting two shots apiece.

Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Saturday (9/24) at 1 p.m., hosting Carleton at Edor Nelson Field. Hamline returns to action on Sunday (9/25), hosting Coe (Iowa) at 12 p.m. in a nonconference game.
