MINNEAPOLIS (11/11/06) -- Scott Motz (Fr., Lake Elmo, Minn./Tartan HS) had a goal and an assist, notching the first tally of a four-goal second-period outburst, giving the University of Wisconsin-Stout a 4-2 win over host Augsburg College in a nonconference men's hockey game Saturday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

All the Blue Devils' (4-0-1 overall) goals came from freshmen, as Paul Henderson (Fr., Menomonie, Wis.), Derek Hanson (Fr., Bemidji, Minn.) and Bobby Kuehl (Fr., St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) also scored goals.

In fact, freshmen accounted for all the goals in the game, as A.J. Hau (Fr., Fort Collins, Colo.) scored his first two collegiate goals on a two-goal night for Augsburg (0-4-0 overall).

Stout outshot Augsburg by a 33-14 margin in the game, including a 25-11 advantage in the final two periods. Andy Kent (So., Lakeville, Minn.) collected 29 saves for Augsburg, while Matt Koenig (So., Lakeland, Minn./Stillwater HS) had 12 saves for Wisconsin-Stout.

Trailing 1-0 in the second period, the Blue Devils scored three goals in a 3:17 span -- including two goals in a span of eight seconds. Motz scored on the power play at the 4:16 mark from Jake Erickson (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Century HS) and Jack Wolgemuth (So., Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond HS). Then eight seconds later, Henderson scored off feeds from Rob Mueller (So., Buffalo, Minn.) and Nick Klaren (So., North St. Paul, Minn./Roseville HS).

Hanson scored from Andrew Stearns (Sr., Wadena, Minn.) and Matt Mlynarczyk (Sr., Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) on the power play at the 7:33 mark, and the Blue Devils' scoring was completed at the 15:46 mark, as Kuehl scored a power-play goal from Wolgemuth and Motz.

Wisconsin-Stout went 3-for-9 on the power play, while Augsburg went 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

Augsburg's Hau notched his second goal of the game at the 13:14 mark of the third period, on an assist from Chad Georgell * (Sr., North Pole, Alaska/Fairbanks Lathrop HS).

Hau and Ben Bradbury (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey Collegiate HS) had three shots apiece for the Auggies.

Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next weekend with a two-game series against St. Mary's. Friday's (10/17) game is at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena, while Saturday's (10/18) game is at 7:05 p.m. in Winona.

Wisconsin-Stout opens Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play on Friday at 7:30 p.m., with a home game against Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
