LAKE FOREST, Ill. (11/4/06) -- Chris Wilson scored a three-goal hat trick, while Brian Lee had two goals and Adam Tobias had a goal and two assists, as host Lake Forest College (Ill.) claimed a 6-2 victory over Augsburg College in a nonconference men's hockey game on Saturday night at Alumni Memorial Rink.
Critter Nagurski * (Sr., International Falls, Minn.) and
Thomas Erickson (Sr., Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) scored goals for Augsburg, now 0-2-0 on the season.
Lake Forest (2-2-0 overall) outshot Augsburg by a 45-39 margin in the game, and Scott Campbell claimed 37 saves for the win for the Foresters.
Adam Hendel (Jr., Bay City, Wis./Red Wing (Minn.) HS) took the loss for the Auggies, with 29 saves in 44:38 of work.
Andy Kent (So., Lakeville, Minn.) made 10 saves in relief.
Lee opened the game with a goal at the 3:40 mark of the first period, while Wilson scored consecutive goals at the 5:24 mark and 16:58 mark, as the Foresters built a 3-0 lead. Erickson scored from
Kellen Chamblee (So., Falcon Heights, Minn./Roseville HS) at the 17:49 mark of the first frame.
Midway through the second period, Tobias scored for the Foresters on a shorthanded goal, but Nagurski scored on the power play at the 12:17 mark, from
Chris Johnson (Fr., Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) and
Aaron Johnson * (Sr., Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS), to trim the lead to 4-2 after two periods.
But Lake Forest clinched the win with two goals in the first 4:38 of the final period, as Lee scored 47 seconds into the frame, and Wilson completed his hat trick at the 4:38 mark.
Augsburg returns to action next weekend with a home series against Wisconsin schools at the Augsburg Ice Arena. On Friday (11/10), Augsburg hosts Wisconsin-River Falls at 7:05 p.m., and on Saturday, Augsburg hosts Wisconsin-Stout at 7:05 p.m.
