15 Auggies figure in the scoring in season finale, as Augsburg claims 10-2 win over Concordia-Moorhead!

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/25/06) -- Critter Nagurski * (Jr., International Falls, Minn.), Aaron Johnson * (Jr., Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and Greg May (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) each scored four-point nights with a goal and three assists, as Augsburg College closed its men's hockey season with a 10-2 win over Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest Friday night at the Moorhead Sports Center.

Brett Way (Fr., Grand Ledge, Mich.) scored two goals for the Auggies, who finished their season with a three-game winning streak, finishing 9-13-3 overall, 5-8-3 in MIAC play. Concordia finishes its season 5-18-2 overall, 0-15-1 in MIAC play.

Nine different Auggies scored goals, and 15 of the 18 Auggie skaters figured in the scoring. Danny Carlson (So., Roseville, Minn.), Colby Nichol (Fr., Grande Prairie, Alberta/Grande Prairie Composite HS), Tom Doyle (Jr., St. Paul, Minn./Como Park HS) and Cody Swanson (Sr., Vermillion, Minn./Hastings HS) had two assists apiece.

Augsburg scored the first three goals of the game, and after giving up a Cobber goal in the final minute of the first period, scored the next five goals in the second period to take a commanding 8-1 lead. Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 47-30 margin.

May, Matt Parnell (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Nagurski scored for Augsburg in the first period. Way scored twice in the second period, with Johnson, Ian Bing (Jr., Cannon Falls, Minn./Farmington HS) and Chad Georgell (Jr., North Pole, Alaska/Faribanks Lathrop HS) adding goals. Kellen Chamblee (Fr., Falcon Heights, Minn./Roseville HS) and Dan Leopold (So., Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) added goals for the Auggies in the third period. Joe Haehn (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) and Kyle Thompson (Fr., Surrey, B.C./Enver Creek HS) also had assists for the Auggies.

Alec Holan scored from Cory Johnson in the first period for Concordia, and Mike Vlasak scored from Brice Berggren in the third period.

Tony Ciro (Sr., Spring Lake Park, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) made 28 saves in goal to pick up the win for Augsburg. Jeremy Boniface made 20 saves for Concordia, with Mike Dowers making 17 saves in relief.
