Cross Country 9/2/06 -- Augsburg vs. Bethel dual meet
MINNEAPOLIS (9/2/06) -- Nikki Umhoefer claimed victory in the women's race with a 19:15 time over 5,000 meters, while Dan Greeno ran 15:53 over the 5,000-meter course to win the men's race, as Bethel University scored wins in a men's and women's cross country dual meet over host Augsburg College on Saturday morning at Riverside Park in Minneapolis.
The Bethel women finished in the first five spots to score a perfect 15 points in beating the Auggies 15-43, while Bethel had eight of the top nine spots in the men's rae to score an 18-45 triumph.
Umhoefer won the women's race in 19:15, four seconds shy of the course record in the event (19:11, Amy Lyons, 2004). Heather Jelen ran second in 20:55, Angie Mumbleau ran 21:23 to place third, Hannah Carlson ran 22:15 to finish fourth and Emily Hall ran 22:43 to place fifth.
Augsburg's
Liz Ehlers (Jr., St. Paul, Minn./Arlington HS) finished sixth in 23:04, and
Andrea Schuster (Jr., Burlington, Wis./Burlington Catholic Central HS) finished seventh in 23:12.
On the men's side, Greeno claimed a convincing win on the 5,000-meter course, finishing in 15:53. Carl Gladitsch ran second for the Royals in 16:25. Augsburg's
Brent Haglund ran third in 16:39.
Brian Anderson ran fourth in 16:48, Tyler Hinrichs ran fifth in 16:49 and Josh Tschetter finished sixth in 16:50 to round out the Royal scoring.
Chris Scribner finished 10th for the Auggies in 17:42, with
Micah Lenthe (Sr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) finishing 12th in 17:44.
Augsburg returns to action next Saturday (9/9) at the Wisconsin-River Falls Invitational.
