ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (1/10/07) -- Judy Falvey hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points, and Darby Noreen hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points, as the College of St. Benedict claimed an 80-39 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Wednesday night at Claire Lynch Hall.
Ellie Boone scored 11 points, Ariel Tauer had nine points and seven rebounds, and Nikki Carter had eight points for the Blazers, now 9-2 overall and 8-0 in league play. Sixteen Blazers saw playing time in the game, with 13 scoring.
Kristina Lurken * (Jr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) scored 10 points with three assists and four rebounds, while
Taylor Ray (So., Two Harbors, Minn.) scored eight points with two assists and two steals for the Auggies, now 1-10 overall, 1-7 in MIAC play.
Jacci Mattern (So., Lakeville, Minn.) scored six points with four rebounds, and
Megan Krumrie (So., Elk Mound, Wis.) scored five points.
Augsburg was held to 27.7 percent (13-of-47) shooting from the field in the game, and the Blazers outrebounded the Auggies by a 42-21 margin. St. Benedict led 31-18 at halftime, and the 41-point margin of victory was its largest lead of the game.
Both teams are in action on Saturday (1/13) at 3 p.m, with Augsburg playing at St. Mary's and St. Benedict playing at St. Catherine.
