HANCOCK, Mich. (1/12/07) -- Tiffany Magnuson (So., Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame HS) and Katie Johnson (Jr., Montrose, Minn./Wayzata HS) scored goals for Augsburg College, as the Auggies gained their third straight victory with a 2-1 triumph over host Finlandia University in a nonconference women's hockey game Friday night at the Houghton County Arena.

Toni Menth (Fr., Buffalo, Minn.) collected 24 saves in goal for Augsburg, now 3-6-3 overall.

Finlandia drops to 3-10-2 on the season. The teams complete the nonconference series on Saturday (1/13) at 1 p.m. (Eastern time) at the Houghton County Arena.

Magnuson claimed her team-high 11th goal of the season with an unassisted tally at the 13:32 mark of the first period. At the 4:28 mark of the second period, Johnson scored her first collegiate goal, on an assist from Katie Medd (Jr., Mankato, Minn./East HS).

Finlandia cut into the lead at the 19:28 mark of the second period, as Danielle Syrowik scored from Sara Sleik and Stephanie Emmi.

Finlandia outshot Augsburg by a 25-18 margin, including a 12-3 edge in the first period. Katie Markovich collected 16 saves in goal for Finlandia.
