MINNEAPOLIS (1/27/07) -- Jon Bain (Sr., Austin, Minn.) collected a double-double with 11 points, 18 rebounds and three assists, leading St. Olaf College to a 90-74 win over host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

Mark Bergstrom (Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) added 16 points and six rebounds, Chad Norberg (Jr., Northfield, Minn.) scored 14 points and Jon Butala (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) had 13 points for the Oles, now 9-10 overall, 6-8 in MIAC play. Steve Banick (Jr., Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) added nine points, seven assists and five rebounds.

Augsburg, now 8-10 overall, 5-8 in MIAC play, was paced by Femi Solaja (Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn./St. Paul Harding HS), who scored 17 points with seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Dan Graf (Sr., Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) had 10 points and six assists, Justin Kozlowski (Jr., Wausau, Wis./Wausau Newman HS) had 10 points, and Jon Cassens (Fr., Prior Lake, Minn.) had nine points and five assists.

St. Olaf jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the first five minutes of play, but Augsburg was able to rally and take a lead behind an 11-2 run over the next four minutes. But St. Olaf used another run, an 11-2 stretch over a four-minute span, to take its first double-digit lead, 35-25 with 3:39 left in the first half. The Oles led 44-36 at halftime, and the Auggies could not cut the lead under five points the rest of the way.

St. Olaf shot 56.9 percent (33-of-58) from the field, including 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from three-point range. St. Olaf also outrebounded Augsburg by a 36-22 margin, including 14 offensive rebounds. The Oles claimed 16 second-chance points to Augsburg's two. Augsburg shot 52.7 percent (29-of-55) from the field, including 33.3 percent (6-of-18) from three-point range.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday (1/31) at 5:45 p.m., with Augsburg playing at Hamline and St. Olaf hosting St. Mary's.
