ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/8/07) -- Senior Melissa Gotchnik had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the host University of St. Thomas Tommies (6-4 overall, 5-2 MIAC) to a 68-51 win over Augsburg College (1-9 overall, 1-6 MIAC) in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball play Monday at UST's Schoenecker Arena.
Sophomore DeJurnett Prioleau added 13 points for the Tommies, who never trailed and improved to 4-0 at home this season. They shot 41 percent from the field and sank 19-of-26 at the foul line. UST moved into a four-way tie for second place in the conference standings at 5-2
Michelle Richter (So., Chaska, Minn.) scored 19 points and Katie LaGrave * (Jr., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS) had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Auggies. Megan Krumrie (So., Elk Mound, Wis.) and Jacci Mattern (So., Lakeville, Minn.) had six points and four rebounds each.
Both teams are in action on Wednesday (1/10). Augsburg travels to face St. Benedict at 7:30 p.m., while St. Thomas is home at 7:45 p.m. to face Gustavus.
