Augsburg ties game in closing seconds of regulation, but falls 4-3 to St. Olaf in OT.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (11/17/07) -- Erik Morrow scored with 1:38 left in overtime to give St. Olaf College a 4-3 men's hockey win over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday night at the Northfield Ice Arena.

Augsburg (0-5-1 overall, 0-2-0 MIAC) sent the game to the extra session when Dan Leopold (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) found the net with 4.5 seconds left, after Augsburg had emptied its net for an extra skater with a power play. Chris Johnson (SO, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) and Ben Bradbury (JR, Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey Collegiate HS) assisted on Leopold's goal.

St. Olaf (3-2-1 overall, 2-0-0 MIAC) trailed 2-0 into the second period but scored three straight goals, from Dylan Mueller, Sam Windsor and John Paulson, to take a 3-2 lead into the final seconds of regulation. Morrow's goal was the rookie's first career tally and came on an assist from Jeff Budish. Budish also assisted on Paulson's goal.

Augsburg opened the scoring on Kellen Chamblee's (JR, Falcon Heights, Minn./Roseville HS) goal from Jake Pernula (FY, Osseo, Minn.) and Brett Way (JR, Grand Ledge, Mich.) at the 17:42 mark of the first period. Colin Briscoe (FY, Rochester, Minn./Century HS) gave the Auggies a 2-0 lead on a power-play goal from Bradbury and Leopold at the 5:17 mark of the second period.

St. Olaf outshot Augsburg by a 31-26 margin. Brycen Eberbwein collected 23 saves for the Oles, while Andrew Kent (JR, Lakeville, Minn.) had 27 saves in goal for Augsburg.

Augsburg is idle next weekend and returns to action on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7:05 p.m., hosting Bethel at the Augsburg Ice Arena. St. Olaf plays a non-conference game next Friday (11/23) at 7 p.m. against Concordia-Wisconsin at the Northfield Ice Arena.
