Augsburg wins second straight game, 77-62 over Wisconsin-River Falls!

MINNEAPOLIS (11/20/07) -- Shannon Renne (FY, Nicollet, Minn.) led her squad with 16 points, and Kristina Lurken * (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) and Christa Suedbeck (JR, Hugo, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) both recorded double-doubles, as the Augsburg College women's basketball team recorded a 77-62 win over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a nonconference contest on Tuesday night at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.

Lurken recorded 14 points with a career-high 10 assists and six rebounds for her double-double, while Suedbeck claimed her second straight double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, along with four blocks and five steals, as the Auggies improved to 2-1 overall with their second straight win. The Auggies have already eclipsed their number of wins from last season (1-24) and claimed back-to-back wins for the first time since the opening two games of the 2005-06 season (Nov. 18-19, 2005).

Caitlin Hunstock (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) scored 26 points with seven rebounds for Wisconsin-River Falls, now 1-2 on the season. Krystal Parr (SO, Bloomer, Wis.) scored 11 points.

Leading 33-28 at halftime, Augsburg used a 10-1 run over a three-minute span to take a nine-point lead, 56-47, midway through the second half. The Auggies eventually led by as many as 18 points down the stretch.

Augsburg outrebounded Wisconsin-River Falls by a 51-41 margin, and converted 20 points off of 21 Falcon turnovers. Meanwhile, the Falcons converted nine piontts off of 17 Augsburg turnovers. Augsburg had 17 assists on its 22 made field goals.

Augsburg opens Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next Wednesday (11/28) at 5:45 p.m., hosting Carleton at Si Melby Hall. Wisconsin-River Falls hosts Finlandia (Mich.) next Wednesday at 6 p.m.
