MENOMONIE, Wis. (11/3/07) -- For the first time this season, the University of Wisconsin-Stout men's hockey team had to rally and the Blue Devils did it in dramatic fashion as they defeated Augsburg College, 3-2, on a goal by Robert Carr (Fr., Roseau, Minn) with 12 seconds remaining in the nonconference men's hockey game on Saturday night at the Dunn County Arena.

Trailing for the first time this season after Augsburg (0-2-0 overall) scored two goals in the final five minutes of the second period -- both by Danny Carlson (Sr., Roseville, Minn.) -- the Blue Devils' Derek Hanson (So, Bemidji, Minn) redirected a shot from Joel Gaulrapp (So., Owatonna, Minn) from the circle to knot the score, 2-2, nine minutes into the final stanza.

The Blue Devils (5-0-0 overall) remained undefeated on the year when Augsburg goalie Adam Hendel (Jr., Bay City, Wis./Red Wing (Minn.) HS) came out of the net to poke check the puck, leaving the wide open shot for Carr.

Stout got on the board first when Hanson scored his first goal of the game, a power play goal, at 10:30 of the first period. The Auggies tied the score when Carlson scored a power play goal with five minutes remaining in the second period from Dan Leopold (Sr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Ben Bradbury (Jr., Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey Collegiate HS), then went ahead when Carlson scored four minutes later from Chris Johnson (So., Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS).

Matt Koenig (Jr, Lakeland, Minn) got the win, making 22 saves, while Hendel took the loss with 30 saves.

Stout will host St. Olaf next Friday (11/9) in Buffalo, Minn, then will be at Gustavus Adolphus next Saturday (11/10).

Augsburg will host a weekend set of nonconference games at the Augsburg Ice Arena next weekend -- Wisconsin-Superior on Friday at 7:05 p.m., and St. Scholastica on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
