MINNEAPOLIS (11/30/07) -- Dan Bonne (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Matt Hall (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored two goals apiece, and Kent Bostrom (JR, Vadnais Heights, Minn.) assisted on four of the five Bethel University goals, as the Royals topped host Augsburg College 5-0 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey contest on Friday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Bethel (6-2-0 overall, 1-2-0 MIAC), the defending MIAC regular-season and playoff champions, claimed victory despite being outshot by a 33-21 margin by Augsburg (0-6-1 overall, 0-3-0 MIAC). Aaron Damjanovich (SO, Remer, Minn.) stopped all 33 shots he faced to pick up the win and his second shutout of the season. Augsburg's Andrew Kent (JR, Lakeville, Minn.) stopped 16 shots in goal for Augsburg.
The Royals scored twice in the first 5:04 of play, on goals by Bonne and Steve Eastman (SR, Edina, Minn.), with Bonne adding his second goal of the night at the 16:03 mark. Hall scored twice in the second period for the Royals, a power-play marker at the 11:29 mark and an unassisted goal at the 17:45 mark.
Jim Jensen (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS) had six shots on goal for the Auggies, while Bryan Frischmann (FY, Rochester, Minn./Century HS), Dan Leopold (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS), Ben Roberts (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS), Kellen Chamblee (JR, Falcon Heights, Minn./Roseville HS) and Ben Bradbury (JR, Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey Collegiate HS) had three shots each.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (12/1) at 7 p.m. at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.
