MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. (12/7/07) -- Claiming a 40-20 shots-on-goal advantage, the University of St. Thomas scored a 3-1 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday night at the UST/STA Arena.

Augsburg (1-8-0 overall, 1-4-0 MIAC) goalie Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) claimed 37 saves in goal, her seventh game and fifth in a row with 30-plus saves.

Rachel Zilles, Jackie Carroll and Marie Omann scored goals for St. Thomas (6-1-0 overall, 4-1-0 MIAC), with Ashley Reinhardt adding two assists. Lauren Bradel stopped 19 shots in goal for the Tommies.

Jackie Keller * (SR, Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) scored Augsburg's lone goal, a marker from Emily Merhar (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) at the 6:53 mark of the third period.

Zilles opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal from Reinhardt at the 4:46 mark of the first period. Carroll scored on a power-play goal from Kristine Beese and Reinhardt at the 10:47 mark of the second period, followed by Omman's goal from Jamie Holloway and Kelly Reddin at the 17:41 mark of the second frame.

The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (12/8) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
