MINNEAPOLIS (12/8/07) -- Jackie Carroll (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) had a goal and an assist, and Ashley Reinhardt (SR, Eagan, Minn.) recorded two assists, as the University of St. Thomas claimed a 3-0 win over host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

For the second straight night, the Tommies (7-1-0 overall, 5-1-0 MIAC) claimed a significant shots-on-goal advantage, outshooting Augsburg (1-9-0 overall, 1-5-0 MIAC) by a 45-22 margin. But Augsburg goalie Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) kept the Auggies in the game with a 42-save effort, her second 40-plus save effort of the season. Menth has recorded 30-plus saves in eight of Augsburg's 10 games this season, including the last six games in a row.

The Tommies opened the scoring late in the first period, as Alicia Behr (JR, Burnsville, Minn.) scored from Kristen Grossman (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and Jill Kobow (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.).

Early in the second period, the Tommies scored 11 seconds into a power play, as Kristine Beese (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.) scored from Carroll and Reinhardt. Carroll capped the scoring with a goal from Reinhardt and Kelley Fallen (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) at the 13:31 mark of the second frame.

Menth collected several point-blank saves for the Auggies, especially in the first two periods, as the Tommies outshot the Auggies by a 28-9 margin during that stretch. Meanwhile, Lauren Bradel (SO, Bemidji, Minn.) stopped all 22 shots she faced to record the shutout win.

Tiffany Magnuson (JR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) recorded six shots-on-goal for Augsburg, while Katie Medd (SR, Mankato, Minn./East HS) had four shots, and Jess Olson (SO, Hamel, Minn./Wayzata HS) and Jenna Knudtson (FY, Austin, Minn.) had three shots each.

Augsburg has its last game before the holiday break on Wednesday (12/12) at 7:05 p.m., with a nonconference game at Wisconsin-River Falls. St. Thomas returns to action on Sunday (12/9), hosting Finlandia (Mich.) at 2 p.m.
