MINNEAPOLIS (2/10/07) -- Margaret Dorer (Jr., St. Paul, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) scored two goals and added an assist for a three-point night, leading Gustavus Adolphus College to a 6-0 victory over Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game Saturday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Andrea Peterson (Sr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Jenny Pusch (So., Minneapolis, Minn./Holy Angels HS) also had three-point nights for the Gusties, with a goal and two assists each. Kelly Crandall (Sr., Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) and Laura Hillman (Fr., Albert Lea, Minn.) also had goals for the Gusties (19-2-0 overall, 13-1-0 MIAC), ranked No. 3 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online Division III national poll. Jessica Doig (So., New Prague, Minn.) contributed two assists.
Augsburg (7-10-4 overall, 4-7-3 MIAC) goalie
Toni Menth (Fr., Buffalo, Minn.) claimed 40 saves, as the Auggies were outshot by a 46-10 margin.
Tiffany Magnuson (So., Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) had six of Augsburg's 10 shots in the game, while
Whitney Restemayer (Fr., Bemidji, Minn.) had two shots.
Sara Toft (Fr., Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) and
Andrea Toft (Fr., Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) also had shots on goal for the Auggies.
The Gusties converted on the power play, collecting three extra-skater goals in six opportunities, while also scoring a 4-on-4 goal. Augsburg did not score on its three power-play opportunities.
Breanna Scavo (Fr., Blaine, Minn./North St. Paul HS) collected six saves in the first two periods to score the win in goal for the Gusties, with Amanda Rosequist (So., Edina, Minn./Breck HS) had four saves in goal in the third period.
Both teams return to MIAC play with series next weekend. Augsburg has two games at Concordia-Moorhead, while Gustavus has a series against St. Benedict.
