St. Thomas rallies in 2nd half, tops Augsburg 67-61.

MINNEAPOLIS (2/5/07) -- DeJurnett Prioleau (So., St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) led all players with 24 points and 10 rebounds, as her University of St. Thomas women's basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to top Augsburg College 67-61 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest Monday night at Augsburg's Si Melby Hall.

Jessica Katch (So., Urbandale, Iowa/Dowling HS) also had a double-double, wtih 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Tommies, who improved to 12-9 overall, 11-7 in MIAC play. Sheena Porter-Wrzos (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) scored 13 points off the bench, with six assists and three steals, and Chelsea Wirtz (So., Waukee, Iowa/Dowling HS) had nine points.

Augsburg (1-20 overall, 1-17 MIAC) was led by Katie Grave (Jr., Okinawa, Japan/Kadena HS), who had 18 points, four rebounds and three steals. Kristina Lurken * (Jr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) scored 14 points with five assists, Megan Krumrie (So., Elk Mound, Wis.) scored 11 points with five assists, five rebounds and two steals, and Marissa Lindback (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) scored 12 points.

Augsburg overcame an early six-point deficit to take the lead late in the first half, eventually stretching the lead to five points before taking a 31-28 lead into the locker room at halftime. Augsburg claimed its biggest lead of six points at the 17:32 mark (38-32). The Tommies used an 8-2 run over a six-minute span to take a 43-40 lead with 11:19 lead, an advantage it would not give up the rest of the game. The Tommies eventually led by as many as 11 points in the final minute.

Augsburg hit 52.0 percent (26-of-50) from the field, its best shooting percentage of the season. Meanwhile, St. Thomas hit 45.3 percent (29-of-64) from the field, including 48.5 percent (16-of-33) in the second half. St. Thomas outrebounded Augsburg by a 33-28 margin, including 14 offensive rebounds which were turned into 10 second-chance points. St. Thomas also recorded 44 points in the paint to Augsburg's 20.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday (2/7), with Augsburg hosting St. Benedict at 7:30 p.m. St. Thomas has a 7:45 p.m. game at Gustavus.
