MINNEAPOLIS (1/18/08) -- Jenna Knudtson (FY, Austin, Minn.) scored her first two collegiate goals, including the game-winning goal at the 3:27 mark of overtime, lifting visiting Augsburg College to a 4-3 victory over the College of St. Catherine in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday night at Ridder Arena.

Knudtson scored the game-winner with 2:33 left in overtime, on assists from Tiffany Magnuson (JR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) and Katie Medd (SR, Mankato, Minn./East HS). Magnuson and Medd each had three-point nights for the Auggies (2-10-0 overall, 2-5-0 MIAC), scoring a goal and two assists each.

Stacy Spector (SO, St. Paul, Minn.), Jess Kniefel (FY, Owatonna, Minn.) and Michaela Michaelson (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) scored goals for St. Catherine (4-9-1 overall, 1-6-0 MIAC). 

Augsburg outshot St. Catherine by a 43-34 margin. Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) collected 31 saves in goal for the Auggies, while Mel Gerten (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) claimed 39 saves for the Wildcats.

Magnuson opened the scoring for the Auggies with a goal from Medd at the 10:50 mark of the first period. Spector answered for the Wildcats with a goal from Ali Minelli (FY, Prior Lake, Minn.) at the 13:40 mark, but the Auggies took the lead back at the 18:40 mark, as Medd scored from Magnuson and Jess Olson (SO, Hamel, Minn./Wayzata HS).

Augsburg built a 3-1 lead on an unassisted goal by Knudtson 59 seconds into the second period, but the Wildcats tied the game with two goals in a 33-second span midway through the frame. Kniefel scored an unassisted goal at the 11:52 mark, and Michaelson followed with a goal from Suzie Kuehnast (FY, Willmar, Minn.) and Meghan Boehmer (FY, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) at the 12:25 mark.

The teams finish the MIAC series on Saturday (1/19) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
