MINNEAPOLIS (1/25/08) -- St. John's University's Jordan Swan (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) score two goals with an assist for a three-point night, matching the two-goal effort by Augsburg College's Joel Sauer (FY, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS), as the Johnnies topped the Auggies 6-4 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Friday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Pat Eagles (SR, Falcon Heights, Minn.) scored a power-play goal with 11 seconds remaining in the second period to break a 4-4 tie, and Pat Connelly (JR, Birchwood, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) added an insurance goal at the 7:09 mark of the third period for St. John's (8-8-2 overall, 4-3-2 MIAC).

Mario Mjelleli (FY, Faribault, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and Jim Jensen (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS) scored goals 16 seconds apart on a 5-on-3 power play late in the third period to tie the game at 4-4 for Augsburg (2-12-2 overall, 0-7-0 MIAC).

The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/26) at 2 p.m. at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

St. John's outshot Augsburg by a 36-17 margin, including an 8-2 advantage in the third period. Vince Wheeler (JR, Clearwater, Minn.) collected 13 saves for the win for the Johnnies, while Augsburg goalie Andrew Kent (JR, Lakeville, Minn.) made 30 saves.

Jared Smith (FY, Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Jason Johannes (JR, Eagan, Minn.) also scored goals for the Johnnies, with Smith and Eagles each adding an assist and Gabriel Harren (SO, Warroad, Minn.) claiming two assists. In all, 10 different Johnnies figured in the scoring.

Ten different Auggies figured in their scoring as well, with Chris Johnson (SO, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) running his point streak to five straight games with a two-assist night.
