ST. CLOUD, Minn. (1/25/08) -- Tiffany Magnuson (JR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS), Jackie Keller * (SR, Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) and Kaitlan Dickson (FY, Bemidji, Minn.) scored goals for Augsburg College, but the College of St. Benedict rallied with three third-period goals, as the teams played to a 3-3 overtime tie in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday night at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
Magnuson scored an unassisted goal just 24 seconds into the game for Augsburg (3-10-1 overall, 3-5-1 MIAC), while Keller scored from Whitney Restemayer (SO, Bemidji, Minn.) just 21 seconds into the second period. Dickson scored her first collegiate goal from Elise Hedlund (FY, Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper HS) on the power play with just one second remaining in the second frame.
Stephanie Kendrick scored from Maggie Rosthstein at the 4:31 mark of the third period for St. Benedict (3-9-1 overall, 3-5-1 MIAC), with Ashley Rebeck scoring an unasissted goal at the 7:25 mark and Ashley Davenport scoring from Gretchen Leyendecker at the 18:34 mark.
St. Benedict outshot Augsburg by a 46-31 margin, including an 18-4 advantage in the third period and 3-1 edge in overtime. Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) recorded her third 40-plus-save game of the season with 43 saves in net, while Abbie Helminen recorded 28 saves for St. Benedict.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/26) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
