Augsburg falls 3-2 in overtime to St. Benedict.

MINNEAPOLIS (1/26/08) -- Janae Coauette (SO, Crookston, Minn.) scored two goals, including the game-winner at the 2:12 mark of overtime, as the College of St. Benedict rallied for the second night in a row and claimed a 3-2 victory over host Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Stephanie Kendrick (JR, Osceola, Wis.) had a goal and an assist, and Ashley Rebeck (FY, St. Andrews, Manitoba) had two assists for St. Benedict (4-9-1 overall, 4-5-1 MIAC), which rallied from a 2-0, second-period deficit to claim the victory.

Tiffany Magnuson (JR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) and Katie Medd (SR, Mankato, Minn./East HS) had a goal and assist apiece for Augsburg (3-11-1 overall, 3-6-1 MIAC), with Jackie Keller * (SR, Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) adding an assist.

Magnuson ran her consecutive-game point and goal streak to five straight games with a power-play goal from Medd at the 3:53 mark of the second period. Magnuson has five goals and four assists over the last five games for the Auggies.

Medd put the Auggies ahead by a 2-0 mark with a goal at the 7:03 mark, assisted by Magnuson and Keller. Medd now has three goals and four assists over the last four games for the Auggies.

But after rallying from a 3-0 deficit to record a 3-3 tie in Friday night's game, the Blazers again rallied, scoring the final three goals of the game. Coauette scored a shorthanded goal from Kendrick and Rebeck at the 13:19 mark of the second period, then Kendrick put in an unassisted goal 42 seconds into the third period. The game-winning goal came at the 2:12 mark of overtime, as Coauette scored from Rebeck and Jackie Hoeft (SR, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS).

St. Benedict outshot Augsburg by a 35-26 margin, including a 3-1 edge in overtime. Amanda Plumm (FY, Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater Area HS) collected 24 saves in goal for the Blazers, while Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) recorded 32 saves for Augsburg.

The teams return to MIAC play next weekend, as Augsburg faces Gustavus, while St. Benedict faces St. Catherine.
