ST. PAUL, Minn. (1/30/08) -- Ashley Busch scored 19 points with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals, leading four College of St. Catherine players in double figures, as the Wildcats scored a 71-59 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday night at the Butler Center.
The Wildcats (7-10 overall, 5-9 MIAC) also received 16 points and five rebounds from Brooke Hakanson, 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists from Rachel Berglund and 10 points, five rebounds and three steals from Mary-Michael Vance.
Augsburg (5-12 overall, 3-11 MIAC) was led by two players who collected double-doubles -- Kristina Lurken * (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS), who scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and four assists for her third point-rebound double-double of the season, and Christa Suedbeck (JR, Hugo, Minn./White Bear Lake HS), who had 12 points with 10 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season.
Michelle Richter (JR, Chaska, Minn.) pulled down 10 rebounds to go along with six points, and Megan Krumrie (SR, Elk Mound, Wis.) scored nine points with two blocked shots for the Auggies.
Augsburg took an 11-3 lead over the first 8:29 of play, but the Wildcats scored 23 of the next 31 points to take a 26-19 lead into the locker room at halftime. St. Catherine built a double-digit lead in the second half, and eventually led by as many as 18 points down the stretch.St. Catherine took advantage of 24 Augsburg turnovers, which it converted into 29 points.
Both teams return to MIAC play on Saturday (2/2), as Augsburg hosts Hamline at 1 p.m., and St. Catherine travels to face Gustavus at 3 p.m.
