MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn (11/22/08) - Seven different St. Thomas players scored goals as the 10th-ranked Tommies (6-0 overall, 4-0 MIAC) used a 55-21 advantage in shots on goal to claim a 9-2 victory over Augsburg College (0-5, 0-4) in conference play in Mendota Heights.
St. Thomas scored seven unanswered in a 26:00 stretch of the first two periods to take a commanding lead. The Toms went 3-for-5 on power plays and also scored a short-handed goal.
For Augsburg, Kali Holst (FY, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) Sara Toft (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson H) each recorded goals, while assists went to Tiffany Magnuson (SR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) and Jenna Knudtson (SO, Austin, Minn.). Grace Edgar (SO, Plano, Texas/Plano West HS) made 22 saves in goal for the Auggies, while Toni Menth (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) made 24 saves in relief.
Augsburg returns to action Tuesday (11/25) when it travels to Ice Hawks Arena to take on the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
