Women's Hockey 11/25/08 -- Wisconsin-Stevens Point 7, Augsburg 1
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (11/25/08) -- Nicole Grossman had a hat trick and added an assist for a four-point night, leading the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to a 7-1 win over visiting Augsburg College in a nonconference women's hockey game on Tuesday night at the Ice Hawks Arena.
Erin Marvin had a goal and two assists, and Dana Carothers had a goal and an assist for the Pointers (4-1-1 overall), ranked No. 8 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online Division III national poll.
Augsburg's (0-6-0 overall) lone goal came from Kali Holst (FY, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS), who scored a power-play tally from Sara Toft (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) and Andrea Toft (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) at the 15:13 mark of the second period.
The Pointers outshot the Auggies by a 60-25 margin. Toni Menth (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) made 53 saves for the Auggies.
Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a series against St. Catherine on Dec. 5-6.
