ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/15/08) -- Emily Dusold collected a goal and an assist, as her Hamline University women's hockey team scored two goals in the first 4:39 of play and claimed a 3-0 win over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday night at the Drake Arena.
Jenny Novakovich and Melanie Leveille also scored goals for Hamline (11-9-2 overall, 6-7-2 MIAC).
Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) claimed 27 saves in goal for Augsburg (3-16-1 overall, 3-11-1 MIAC), which was outshot by a 30-21 margin.
Hamline scored twice early in the first period, as Novakovich scored at the 2:08 mark and Dusold scored on the power play at the 4:39 mark. Leveille completed the scoring for the Pipers with a goal at the 2:32 mark of the third frame. Crystal Testolin collected 21 saves in net for the Pipers.
Katie Medd (SR, Mankato, Minn./East HS) had five shots on goal for the Auggies, while Jenna Knudtson (FY, Austin, Minn.) and Kaitlan Dickson (FY, Bemidji, Minn.) had three shots apiece.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (2/16) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
