MINNEAPOLIS (2/16/08) -- Jackie Keller * (SR, Traverse City, Mich./Traverse City West HS) tied the game with an unassisted blast from the point with 5:19 left in regulation, enabling her Augsburg College women's hockey team to claim a 2-2, overtime tie with Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Augsburg (3-16-2 overall, 3-11-2 MIAC) claimed the tie despite being outshot by a 36-15 margin in the game. Auggie goalie Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) stopped 34 shots for the draw, the 17th time this season she has claimed 30 or more saves.
Emily Dusold (SR, Shoreview, Minn./Irondale HS) and Kate Raasch (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) had a goal and assist apiece for Hamline (11-9-3 overall, 6-7-3 MIAC). Crystal Testolin (JR, Richardson, Texas/Plano East HS) claimed 13 saves in goal for the Pipers.
As it did in Friday's 3-0 victory, Hamline jumped on the board early, as Dusold scored from Raasch and Sophie Davidson (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Johnson HS) just 3:13 into the game. Augsburg tied the game at the 11:08 mark, as Tiffany Magnuson (JR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) scored her team-high ninth goal of the season, from Katie Medd (SR, Mankato, Minn./East HS) and Jess Olson (SO, Hamel, Minn./Wayzata HS).
But Hamline took the lead back late in the period, as Raasch scored from Dusold and Emily Toenes (SR, Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak HS) at the 18:10 mark. The teams played a scoreless second period, with Hamline outshooting Augsburg by a 12-1 margin, leading up to Keller's steal and blast to tie the game at the 14:41 mark of the third period. Hamline outshot Augsburg 2-0 in a scoreless overtime.
Augsburg finishes its season with a series against St. Mary's next Friday and Saturday (2/22-23), while Hamline faces St. Benedict in a weekend series.
