MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/9/08) -- Dave Carroll (SO, Richfield, Minn.) scored his first two collegiate goals in the first period, part of a four-goal Augsburg College barrage en route to a 6-5 win over Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey contest on Saturday afternoon at the Moorhead Youth Rink.

Chris Johnson (SO, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS), Kellen Chamblee (JR, Falcon Heights, Minn./Roseville HS), Jim Jensen (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS) and Cory Ellertson (FY, Albert Lea, Minn.) also scored goals for Augsburg (5-14-2 overall, 3-9-0 MIAC), as the Auggies completed their first conference series sweep of the season.

After giving up the first goal of the game on an unassisted, shorthanded goal by Concordia's Shawn Goos at the 1:58 mark of the first period, the Auggies jumped ahead with three straight goals -- a power-play goal from Chris Johnson, assisted by Dan Leopold (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater, Minn.) and Dan Carlson (SR, Roseville, Minn.) at the 7:19 mark, a goal by Chamblee from Brett Way (JR, Grand Ledge, Mich.) and Ben Roberts (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) at the 13:25 mark, and Carroll's first goal from Ian McDougall (SO, Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley HS) and Tim Lawson (SR, Monument, Colo./Lewis-Palmer HS) at the 15:27 mark.

Carlson completed a six-point weekend for the Auggies, as he had four goals and an assist in Friday's 6-3 Auggie win.

Concordia scored on the power play, as Ryan Clukey scored from Cory Johnson and Holen at the 17:12 mark, but Augsburg took a 4-2 lead into the first-period break on Carroll's second goal of the game, a tally from Lawson and McDougall at the 18:27 mark. Augsburg took the lead to stay on Ellertson's eighth goal of the season, from Chris Johnson, at the 14:45 mark of the third period. Fourteen seconds later, Matt Nordhagen scored for Concordia from Blaine Gamst.

Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 36-31 margin. Augsburg goalie Andrew Kent (JR, Lakeville, Minn.) collected 26 saves for the Auggies, while Mike Pearson made 30 saves for the Cobbers.

Both teams have MIAC series next weekend, as Augsburg faces Hamline and Concordia faces St. John's.
