MINNEAPOLIS (2/9/08) -- Katie Medd (SR, Mankato, Minn./East HS) scored both goals for Augsburg College, but Concordia College-Moorhead's Kelsey Puffe (JR, Moorhead, Minn.) made her first goal of the season count for the eventual game-winner, as the Cobbers completed the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey series sweep of the Auggies with a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Bre Bian (JR, Cedarburg, Wis.) had a goal and assist, Jen Bextermueller (FY, St. Charles, Mo.) scored a goal, and Alyssa Dahl (JR, Willmar, Minn.) and Mandi Samuelson (JR, Willmar, Minn.) had two assists apiece for Concordia (8-9-2 overall, 8-4-2 MIAC).
Tiffany Magnuson (JR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS) assisted on both of Medd's goals for Augsburg (3-15-1 overall, 3-10-1 MIAC). Medd opened each of the first two periods with a goal, scoring at the 3:16 mark of the first period and at the 2:16 mark of the second frame.
Bextermueller tied the game at 1-1 with a goal from Dahl and Samuelson at the 10:46 mark of the first period, and Bian put the Cobbers ahead on a power-play marker from Dahl and Samuelson at the 12:35 mark of the second period. Dahl completed a five-point weekend for the Cobbers, after scoring all three goals in a 3-0 win over the Auggies on Friday night.
After Medd tied the game early in the second period, Puffe scored from Bian on the power play to give the Cobbers the lead for good.
Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 30-26 margin. Maddie Haroldson (SO, Sartell, Minn.) collected 28 saves in goal for the Cobbers, while Toni Menth (SO, Buffalo, Minn.) stopped 23 shots for the Auggies.
Both teams have MIAC series next weekend, as Augsburg faces Hamline and Concordia faces St. Benedict.
