Wisconsin-Eau Claire claims 4-2 victory over Augsburg.

MINNEAPOLIS (1/10/09) -- DJ Clark (SR, Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park HS) scored two goals, including the eventual game-winning goal on the power play late in the second period, as the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire rallied for a 4-2 victory over host Augsburg College in a nonconference men's hockey game on Saturday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Sam Bauler (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) and Joe Bluhm (JR, Red Wing, Minn.) had a goal and assist each, and Greg Petersen (SR, Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) had two assists for Wisconsin-Eau Claire (12-5-0 overall).

Mario Mjelleli (SO, Faribault, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and Joel Sauer (SO, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) scored goals for Augsburg (3-10-0 overall), which held a 2-1 lead 13 minutes into the first period.

Mjelleli opened the scoring with a goal from Jim Jensen (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS) and Chris Johnson (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) at the 5:30 mark of the first period, but Bauler tied the game with a goal at the 9:35 mark. Sauer gave the Auggies the 2-1 lead with a goal from Nick Guran (FY, McHenry, Ill./McHenry East HS) and Brandon Bukowski (FY, Superior, Wis.) at the 12:58 mark, but Clark tied the game for the Bluolds with a goal just 43 seconds later.

Clark gave the Blugolds the lead with a power-play goal from Bluhm and Petersen at the 17:58 mark of the second period, and Bluhm capped the scoring with an empty-net goal in the final minute of the third period.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire claimed a 30-21 edge in shots-on-goal, incouding an 11-4 first-period advantage. Augsburg's Andrew Kent (SR, Lakeville, Minn.) recorded 26 saves, while Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Tyler Brigl (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) had 19 saves.

Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play next Friday and Saturday (1/16-17) with a series against St. John's.
