Augsburg drops 7-1 contest at No. 2-ranked Gustavus.

ST. PETER, Minn. (1/23/09) -- Claiming a 66-8 advantage in shots-on-goal, the Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team claimed a 7-1 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday night at the Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Jessica Doig scored two goals for the Gusties (10-1-3 overall, 7-0-2 MIAC), ranked No. 2 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online Division III national rankings. Melissa Mackley and Allie Schwab had a goal and assist apiece, with Whitney Schaff, Lynn Hillen and Sara Yungner adding goals.

Augsburg's (3-13-0 overall, 0-9-0 MIAC) lone goal came from Ali Ulseth (FY, Orono, Minn.), who scored from Sara Toft (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) and Jenna Knudtson (SO, Austin, Minn.) late in the second period.

Augsburg goalie Toni Menth (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) collected 59 saves, while Danielle Justice had seven saves for the Gusties.

Augsburg and Gustavus will complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/24) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
