Women's Hockey 1/30/09 -- Concordia-Moorhead 7, Augsburg 1
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/30/09) -- Katelyn Dold claimed a three-goal hat trick and Becca Kent had two goals and two assists for a four-point night, as the Concordia College-Moorhead women's hockey team claimed a 9-1 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday night at the Moorhead Sports Center.
Augsburg's (3-15-0 overall, 0-11-0 MIAC) lone goal came from Tiffany Magnuson (SR, Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy HS), who scored from Sara Toft (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) on a power-play goal in the first period.
Concordia (9-7-2 overall, 6-4-1 MIAC) outshot Augsburg by a 43-17 margin and scored three goals in both the second and third periods to claim the win. Bre Bian and Mandi Samuelson also scored goals for the Cobbers.
Augsburg goalie Toni Menth (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) collected 27 saves in 46 minutes of work, with Grace Edgar (SO, Plano, Texas/Plano West HS) had nine saves in relief. Maddie Haroldson had 16 saves for the Cobbers.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/31) at 2 p.m. in Moorhead.
