Auggies drop 4-0 decision

BOXSCORE

MINNEAPOLIS -- Aryn Ball (SR, Bemidji, Minn.) claimed a three-goal hat trick, leading St. Catherine University to a 4-0 victory over visiting Augsburg College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Thursday evening at the University of Minnesota's Ridder Arena.

In the opening MIAC game for both teams, St. Catherine (3-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 MIAC) outshot Augsburg (0-5-0 overall, 0-1-0 MIAC) by a 36-24 margin. Toni Menth (SR, Buffalo, Minn.) collected 32 saves in goal for the Auggies.

Special-team situations again hurt the Auggies, as the Wildcats scored on two of their three power-play opportunities in the game -- the 11th and 12th power-play goals scored against the Auggies in 29 player-advantage situations early this season. Meanwhile, Augsburg went 0-for-4 on the power play, including a two-player advantage for 1:32 early in the second period.

Ashley Grell (FY, Linwood, Minn./Forest Lake HS) had the other St. Catherine goal. Kali Holst (SO, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) had six shots on-goal for the Auggies, while Sandra Hinz (FY, Stockholm, Sweden/Solna Gymnasium HS) had four shots and Erin Leyden (JR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS) had three shots.

The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (11/21) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
