Augsburg closes season with 2-1 loss at St. Olaf.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (2/21/09) -- Amanda Gullickson (FY, Prior Lake, Minn.) scored her first collegiate goal for Augsburg College exactly one minute into the game on Saturday afternoon, but the Auggies closed their women's hockey season with a 2-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to host St. Olaf College at the Northfield Ice Arena.

Gullickson, one of 14 first-year and sophomore athletes for Augsburg (5-19-1 overall, 2-15-1 MIAC), scored her first collegiate goal at the 1:00 mark of the first period, assisted by Whitney Restemayer (JR, Bemidji, Minn.). Thirty-three seconds later, St. Olaf (8-13-4 overall, 7-9-2 MIAC) tied the game with a goal from Kim McClintick (JR, Chaska, Minn.), and Breanna Johnson (SO, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) scored the eventual game-winner at the 2:42 mark of the second frame.

Augsburg was outshot by a 41-20 margin. Toni Menth (JR, Buffalo, Minn.) collected 39 saves in goal for the Auggies, marking the 13th time in her 23 games this season that she has recorded 30-plus saves. Jessica Ptachick (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had 19 saves in goal for the Oles.

Augsburg closed its 14th season of varsity women's hockey with decisions of two goals or less in each of its final six straight games, a stretch in which it went 2-3-1 with two overtime decisions.
