MOORHEAD, Minn. --
Jim Jensen (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS) and
Nick Guran (SO, McHenry, Ill./McHenry East HS) had a goal and assist each, as Augsburg College claimed its eighth victory in its last 10 games with a 4-1 triumph over Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Friday night at the Moorhead Sports Center.
Joel Sauer (JR, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) and
Kris Reinthaler (FY, Graz, Austria/Spring Creek Academy (Texas) HS) scored goals for Augsburg (10-5-2 overall, 3-3-1 MIAC), which snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory.
Augsburg was outshot by a 44-23 margin by Concordia (4-11-3 overall, 3-3-3 MIAC), but Augsburg goalie
Justin Lochner (FY, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) collected 43 saves to improve to 6-2-1 on the season.
The Auggies scored twice in a 16-second span early in the second period, as Jensen scored from Guran at the 5:40 mark, and Guran followed with an unassisted goal at the 5:56 mark. Concordia trimmed the lead just 20 seconds later, as Nick Thielen scored from Pat Deitz and Aaron Wheeler.
Augsburg added two insurance goals to score the win, with Sauer scoring from Jensen at the 16:51 mark of the second period, and Reinthaler scoring a power-play goal from
Chris Johnson (SR, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) and
Mario Mjelleli (JR, Faribault, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) at the 9:49 mark of the third period.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/23) at 2 p.m. at the Moorhead Sports Center.
