ST. PAUL, Minn. --
Jess Olson (SR, Hamel, Minn./Wayzata HS) tied the game for Augsburg College with a goal in the first period, but Hamline University scored three straight goals to claim a 4-1 win over the Auggies in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday night at the Drake Ice Arena.
Erin Kastner had a goal and two assists for Hamline (4-10-2 overall, 1-7-1 MIAC), which was outshot by a 35-21 margin by Augsburg (1-13-2 overall, 1-6-2 MIAC). Megan Olson, Brianna Sigg and Alli Miller also scored goals for the Pipers.
Kastner opened the game with a goal at the 2:27 mark, but Augsburg followed with Olson's third goal of the season, assisted by
Andrea Toft (SR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS), at the 7:37 mark of the first period.
Megan Olson scored a power-play goal for Hamline at the 9:44 mark of the second period, followed by a goal from Sigg at the 12:57 mark. Miller capped the win with an unassisted goal 1:36 into the third period.
Toni Menth (SR, Buffalo, Minn.) had 17 saves in goal for Augsburg, while Amanda Plumm had 34 saves for the Pipers.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (1/30) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
