Auggies fall to No. 14 Tommies

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg College volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival University of St. Thomas on Friday night (25-18, 25-10, 25-18).

Augsburg (14-12 overall, 4-4 MIAC) was led offensively by Katie Christensen (SR, North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS), who recorded a team-high seven kills. Nikolene Miller (SO, Tomahawk, Wis./Tomahawk HS) and Amanda Unze (SO, Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska HS) each had five kills for the Auggies.

Defensively Augsburg was led by Jessica Hilk (SR, Waconia, Minn./Mayer Lutheran HS), who recorded a team-high 10 digs. Miller, Unze and Colleen Ourada (FY, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) each had one block for the Auggies. Setter Emily McCourt (FY, Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie HS) recorded 20 assists for Augsburg.

For St. Thomas, senior Jill Osborne had 10 kills and four blocks as the No. 14-ranked Tommies ran their winning streak to 15.

Augsburg returns to action next Friday with a home matchup against Bethel University on Friday (10/22) at 7 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
