Nick Guran (JR, McHenry, Ill./McHenry East HS) scored two goals for Augsburg College, as the Auggies scored a 2-2 overtime tie with the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a nonconference men's hockey game on Friday night at Ed Saugestad Rink.
Guran gave Augsburg (1-1-1 overall) a 2-0 lead midway through the second period, but Wisconsin-River Falls (2-1-1 overall) rallied with goals from Justin Brossman (JR, Littleton, Colo.) and Ben Beaudoin (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) to force overtime.
Augsburg took an early lead when Guran scored at the 4:11 mark of the first period, assisted by
Joel Sauer (SR, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) and
Jim Jensen (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Osseo HS). Guran scored again halfway through the second period, scoring from
David Hines (JR, Sartell, Minn./St. Cloud Tech HS) and Sauer.
Augsburg outshot Wisconsin-River Falls by a 40-26 margin. Scott Lewand (FY, Westland, Mich.) collected 38 saves for the Falcons, while
Justin Lochner (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 24 saves for the Auggies.
Wisconsin-River Falls scored at the 19:43 mark of the second period, as Brossman scored from John Bullis (JR, Frisco, Texas). The Falcons tied the game 1:17 into the third period, with Beaudoin scoring from Brossman and Josh Calleja (SR, New Richmond, Wis.).
Augsburg returns to nonconference action on Saturday (11/6) at 7:05 p.m., hosting Wisconsin-Eau Claire at Ed Saugestad Rink.
