Jess Olson (SR, Delano, Minn./Wayzata HS) scored two goals, including the game-tying goal with 37 seconds left in regulation time, as Augsburg College claimed a 2-2 overtime tie with St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday evening at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
Olson put Augsburg (2-16-3 overall, 2-9-3 MIAC) in front with a goal with 1:11 left in the second period from
Devon Ellena (FY, Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine HS) and
Brya Erickson (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS), but St. Olaf (12-8-1 overall, 8-5-1 MIAC) took the lead with two goals in the first 7:43 of the third frame.
The Auggies pullied their goalie and earned a power play with 1:30 left, and Olson converted for the Auggies with her team-leading seventh goal of the season, scoring on a rebound after a shot by
Jessica Larkin (FY, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) hit the post.
Meghan Stumpf (JR, Oakdale, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) and Kari McClintick (SR, Chaska, Minn.) scored for St. Olaf in the third period, with Kristen Latta (SO, Edina, Minn.) recording two assists.
Augsburg goalie
Grace Edgar (JR, Plano, Texas/Plano West HS) claimed 37 saves in goal to record the tie, while Jessica Ptachick (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) had 24 saves for the Oles. St. Olaf outshot Augsburg by a 39-26 margin.
Both teams return to action with MIAC series next weekend, with Augsburg facing Bethel and St. Olaf facing St. Benedict.
