Andrea Toft (SR, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) scored an unassisted, power-play goal in the third period, but her Augsburg College women's hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to host Bethel University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday night at the Schwan SuperRink.
Hillary Hartwig and Allison Papko scored two goals apiece, and Rachel Geng had two assists, to lead the Royals (7-14-0 overall, 7-8-0 MIAC) to the victory. Biz Huss had the other Bethel goal.
Bethel outshot Augsburg (2-17-3 overall, 2-10-3 MIAC) by a 38-26 margin, with
Toni Menth (SR, Buffalo, Minn.) collecting 33 saves in goal. Jess Newstrom had 25 saves for the Royals.
Kali Holst (SO, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS) and
Kressi Lehn (FY, Rogers, Minn.) had four shots each for the Auggies, with
Brya Erickson (JR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS),
Jeanna Dudley (FY, Lindenhurst, Ill./Lakes Community HS) and
Whitney Restemayer (SR, Bemidji, Minn.) collecting three shots apiece.
The teams complete the series on Saturday (2/20) at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
