ST. JOSEPH, Minn. --
Serenae Levine (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) led Augsburg College with 11 points and two steals, but an early deficit was too much to overcome for the Auggies in an 82-52 loss to the College of St. Benedict in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Claire Lynch Hall.
Courtney Barthel (SO, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) scored nine points for Augsburg (3-10 overall, 2-8 MIAC), while
Brittany Dyshaw (SO, Eagan, Minn.) and
Brittany Zins (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) had eight points apiece. Zins contributed five rebounds.
Twenty-one players saw game action for St. Benedict (12-1 overall, 9-1 MIAC), with 16 scoring. Devin Bowlin had 12 points and three assists for the Blazers, while Abby Richardson scored 10 points with two assists.
The Blazers took command early, leading 25-5 with 6:02 left in the first half and 33-17 at halftime. The Blazers led by as many as 34 points down the stretch.
Lexi Thompson (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) led the Auggies with eight rebounds, as Augsburg outrebounded St. Benedict by a 32-31 margin.
Maddie Weiske (FY, De Pere, Wis./West De Pere HS) scored seven points with two blocked shots and three steals.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play on Monday (1/17) at 7:30 p.m., hosting Gustavus at Si Melby Hall.
