Auggies stopped 4-2 at Hamline

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Sandra Hinz (SO, Stockholm, Sweden/Solna Gymnasium HS) and Kressi Lehn (SR, Rogers, Minn.) scored third-period goals for Augsburg College, but the Auggies could not overcome an early deficit in a 4-2 loss to Hamline University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday evening at the Warner Coliseum.

Alex Hall (FY, Burnsville, Minn.) claimed 33 saves in goal for Augsburg (3-11-1 overall, 1-8-1 MIAC), as the Auggies were outshot by a 37-13 margin in the game.

Alli Miller had a goal and assist for Hamline (3-10-3 overall, 2-6-2 MIAC), with Jessica Kraus, Laura Randall and Haley Johnson scoring the other Piper goals.

The Pipers scored twice in the first period and once in the closing seconds of the second period, but Augsburg began a rally 48 seconds into the third frame, as Hinz scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Erin Leyden (SR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS). The Pipers scored at the 7:35 mark to go ahead 4-1, but Augsburg's Lehn scored her fourth goal of the season, assisted by Allix Bell (SO, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS) and Jessica Larkin (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), at the 15:54 mark.

Hall's 33 saves marked the sixth time in her seven starts that she has claimed 30 or more saves in a game. Caitlin Nosanov had 11 saves in goal for Hamline.

Augsburg returns to MIAC play with a series next weekend against St. Mary's. Friday's (2/4) game is at 7 p.m. in Winona, Minn., and Saturday's (2/5) game is at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
