ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Augsburg College volleyball team dropped a three-set match (25-16, 25-12, 26-24) to Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at the Lund Center.
The loss marks the Auggies' (10-6 overall, 4-2 MIAC) first setback in their last six matches and drops the team into a tie with Gustavus (14-6 overall, 4-2 MIAC) for fifth place in the MIAC standings.
The Auggies fell behind early in each of the first three sets, but rallied to take a 23-22 lead late in the third set. Gustavus would score three of the final four points in the set to close out the match and earn the victory.
Colleen Ourada (SO, Omaha, Neb./Mercy HS) led the Augsburg offensive attack, as she recorded a team-high 12 kills and a .273 hitting percentage. Ourada also added four digs and three blocks for the Auggies.
Micha Sater (JR, Fridley, Minn./Centennial HS) added eight kills and eight digs for Augsburg, while
Tabby Roh (FY, La Crosse, Wis./Central HS) recorded four kills with a .273 hitting percentage and three blocks in the match.
Jamila Lee (JR, Richfield, Minn.) and
Maggie Zirk (JR, Dassel, Minn./Dassel-Cokato HS) added three kills each for Augsburg.
Augsburg setter
Emily McCourt (SO, Sun Prairie, Wis.) recorded 27 assists, nine digs and two service aces in the match, while defensive specialist
Katelyn Berens (SO, Jordan, Minn./Prior Lake HS) recorded a team-high 17 digs.
The Auggies return to action Wednesday (10/12) when they travel to Northfield, Minn. to face Carleton College. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at West Gym.
