Rachel Hennessy (FY, Williston, N.D.) scored her team-high ninth goal of the season 32 seconds into the third period for Augsburg College, but the College of St. Benedict scored a 4-1 victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.
Hennessy scored from
Diana Bocklund (JR, Pine Springs, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) at the 32-second mark of the third period to cut the lead to 3-1. Megan Brettingen (FY, Mora, Minn./Warroad HS) and Allyson Nielsen (SO, Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) had a goal and assist each for St. Benedict (3-4-1 overall, 1-2-1 MIAC), and Kerri Graske (SR, Stillwater, Minn.) and Annie Gorman (FY, Red Wing, Minn.) also scored goals for the Blazers.
Hennessy now has nine goals on the season for Augsburg (3-2-1 overall, 2-2-1 MIAC), tied for the lead among
MIAC players in overall statistics. Her 11 points (nine goals, two assists) is tied for third-best among MIAC players. Among NCAA Division III players nationally (
www.collegehockeystats.net), Hennessy is tied for the national lead in goals per-game (1.50), while her nine goals are tied for second-most in the nation. Her 1.83 points per-game is tied for 11th-most nationally.
Crystal Amunrud (FY, Coon Rapids, Minn.), making her first collegiate start in goal for Augsburg, had 35 saves in the game, as the Auggies were outshot by a 39-24 margin in the game. Jenna Traut (FY, St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS) had 23 saves in goal for the Blazers.
The Blazers outshot Augsburg by a 29-10 margin through the first two periods, building a 3-0 lead. Nielsen scored a power-play goal from Brettingen at the 18:38 mark of the first period, while Brettingen scored from Megan Schwegman (FY, St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS) and Nielsen at the 7:01 mark of the second period. Graske scored a power-play goal from Christine Brodersen (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Breck HS) and Amie Ernst (SO, North Mankato, Minn./Mankato Loyola HS) at the 8:15 mark. Gorman capped the scoring for the Blazers with an empty-net goal at the 19:23 mark of the third period.
Hennessy had four shots on-goal for the Auggies, while

Augsburg returns to MIAC play the weekend of Dec. 2-3 with a series against Gustavus, while St. Benedict has a series the same weekend against St. Catherine.
