GREEN BAY, Wis. --
Landon Olson (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Duluth Marshall HS) and
Derek Loisel (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn.) scored second-period goals for Augsburg College in the Auggies' 7-2 loss to defending NCAA Division III national champion St. Norbert College (Wis.) in a nonconference men's hockey game on Saturday evening at the Cornerstone Center.
Olson scored from
George Jackson (FY, Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley HS) at the 4:46 mark of the second period for Augsburg (1-3-0 overall), and Loisel scored an unassisted goal at the 10:00 mark to cut the St. Norbert lead to 3-2.
But St. Norbert (3-1-1 overall), the top-ranked team in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online Division III national poll, scored four goals in a row to pull away from the Auggies. Kyle Stroh had a three-goal hat trick and added two assists for a five-point night, and Emil Haque, Johan Ryd, Brandon Hoogenboom and Derek Donohue also had goals. Alain Joanette had three assists for the Green Knights.
St. Norbert outshot Augsburg by a 33-24 margin.
Justin Lochner (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 24 saves in goal for the Auggies, while Casey O'Connor (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had two saves in relief in the third period. David Jacobson collected 22 saves in goal for St. Norbert.
Augsburg faces Wisconsin-Stout in a nonconference game next Friday (11/11) at 7:05 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink.
