Erin Leyden (SR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS) and
Carissa Miller (SO, Woodbury, Minn.) scored unassisted goals for Augsburg College, but a three-goal second-period outburst proved to be the difference in a 6-2 win for St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.
Katie Iraci (SR, Park Ridge, Ill.) scored two goals for St. Olaf (7-11-2 overall, 6-5-2 MIAC), while Cassie Forster (SR, Shakopee, Minn.) had a goal and two assists.
The Oles scored three goals in a 1:51 span early in the second period to take a 5-1 lead, with Iraci scoring twice in a 1:08 span, including a power-play goal. Alex Meyer (JR, West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS), Margot Fleming (FY, Wayzata, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret HS) and Breanna Johnson (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) also scored for the Oles, and Taylor Orr (JR, Savage, Minn./Burnsville HS) had two assists.
Goalie
Grace Edgar (SR, Plano, Texas/Plano West HS) started for the Auggies and stopped 14 shots before being relieved by
Alex Hall (FY, Burnsville, Minn.) in the second period. Hall had 18 saves in 35 minutes of action.
St. Olaf outshot Augsburg by a 38-25 margin. Jessica Ptachick (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) collected 23 saves for the Oles.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (2/11) at 7:30 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
