NORTHFIELD, Minn. --
Erin Leyden (SR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS) and
Jessica Larkin (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) had a goal and assist apiece, but Augsburg College dropped a 3-2 decision to St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey game on Saturday evening at the Northfield Ice Arena.
Nicole Stumpf scored two goals for St. Olaf (8-11-2 overall, 8-5-2 MIAC), while Tara Reyelts scored the other Ole goal.
Alex Hall (FY, Burnsville, Minn.) collected 34 saves in goal for Augsburg (3-15-1 overall, 1-12-1 MIAC), which was outshot by a 37-25 margin by the Oles. Erin McNamara had 23 saves in goal for St. Olaf.
Stumpf put the Oles on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the 11:15 mark of the first period. Reyelts followed with a goal at the 3:01 mark of the second period, but Augsburg trimmed the lead to one goal just 21 seconds later, as Leyden scored her third goal of the season, assisted by Larkin and
Allix Bell (SO, Andover, Minn./Anoka HS).
Stumpf scored her second goal of the game, a power-play marker at the 18-minute mark of the second period for the Oles. Augsburg cut the lead to 3-2 with an extra-attacker goal by Larkin, assisted by
Elise Hedlund (SR, Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper HS) and Leyden, with 33 seconds remaining in the game.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play next weekend with a series against Bethel.
