Katie Lamirande (SO, Cloquet, Minn.) scored the lone goal of the game for Augsburg College in the third period, but the Auggie women's hockey team dropped a 7-1 decision to Bethel University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.
Biz Huss (SO, Beaver Bay, Minn./William M. Kelley HS) had a five-point night for Bethel (11-9-2 overall, 8-5-2 MIAC), scoring two goals and adding three assists. Christina Masten (FY, Fergus Falls, Minn.) scored two goals with an assist, and Rachael Geng (JR, South St. Paul, Minn.) and Allison Papko (SR, Winnipeg, Manitoba/Dakota Collegiate HS) had two assists each.
Augsburg (3-16-1 overall, 1-13-1 MIAC) goalie
Alex Hall (FY, Burnsville, Minn.) collected 26 saves in goal, as the Auggies were outshot by a 33-23 margin by the Royals.
Anna Carlson (JR, Roseville, Minn.) had a goal and an assist for the Royals, and Charise Kendrick (FY, Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Melanie Robertson (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) had the other Bethel goals.
The Royals scored the first five goals of the game in the first two periods, but Lamirande put the Auggies on the board with her third goal of the season, a power-play marker 3:06 into the third period.
Erin Leyden (SR, Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South HS) had six shots on goal for the Auggies, while Lamirande,
Jenna Knudtson (SR, Austin, Minn.) and
Carissa Miller (SO, Woodbury, Minn.) had three shots each.
The teams complete the MIAC series on Saturday (2/19) at 3 p.m. at the Schwan SuperRink in Blaine, Minn.
