Levine hits season-high 22, Auggies fall at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Serenae Levine (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) posted a season-high 22 points but the Augsburg College women's basketball team fell 79-65 to a tough Concordia College team in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Memorial Auditorium.

Levine recorded her season-high 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor, while adding six assists and four rebounds. Levine is currently the only MIAC women's basketball player to rank in the top-30 in scoring, and the top-five in both rebounding and assists.

The Auggies (5-17 overall, 4-15 MIAC) finished with four of their starters in double figures. Brittany Zins (SO, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) and Brittany Dyshaw (SO, Eagan, Minn.) scored 12 points apiece, while Lexi Thompson (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) finished with 11 points, on 5-of-7 shooting, while adding a game-high four steals.

Concordia (16-6 overall, 14-5 MIAC) also finished with four starters in double figures, led by Erica Nord, who finished with 19 points and three steals.

Augsburg played a solid first 10 minutes of basketball, leading by as many as five off a pair of baskets by Thompson and a layup by Zins. The score was tied 16-16 at the 10:18 mark, but the Cobbers outscored the Auggies 32-14 over the remainder of the first half, taking a 48-30 lead into the locker room at the intermission. Augsburg scored on its first two possessions of the second half to cut the lead to 14, but couldn't get any closer as the Cobbers went on to claim the win over the Auggies.

For the game, Augsburg shot 38.7 percent (24-of-62), while Concordia connected on 49.2 percent (29-of-59) of its shots. The Cobbers claimed a 44-33 advantage on the boards and both teams finished with an identical 22 turnovers.

Augsburg and Concordia both return to action on Saturday (2/12) with Augsburg hosting Bethel in a men's and women's doubleheader and Concordia hosting Saint Benedict.
