Auggies compete at Concordia meets

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- Courtney Barthel (FY, St. Michael, Mnn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) and Jill Ferguson (JR, Batavia, Ill.) led the Augsburg College women's golf team in two meets hosted by Concordia College-Moorhead at the Wildflower Golf Course over the weekend.

In just her second collegiate meet, Barthel led the Auggies with a 93 total at the Concordia Cobber Open on Friday. At the Concordia Open on Saturday and Sunday, Ferguson shot a two-day, 36-hole total of 190 (100-90) to pace Augsburg.

As a team, Augsburg finished 11th in the Cobber Open with a 401 total, while finishing 13th in the Concordia Invitational with a 79 (404-385) total.

At the Cobber Open, Kelli Linton (FY, Keiter, Ore./McNary HS) shot a 99 total, while Ferguson shot a 101, Ashley Lindemann (SO, Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) shot 108 and Margaret Hughes (SO, Mendota Heights, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) shot 111. Competing as individuals, Emilee Howe (JR, Eden Prairie, Minn.) and McKay Karl (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn.) each shot 110, and Nikki Johnson (JR, Upsala, Minn.) shot 145.

At the Concordia Invitational, Karl finished with a 203 (105-98) total, while Barthel (104-100), Howe (105-99) and Linton (107-97) each shot 204. Hughes shot a 214 total and Johnson finished at 303.

Augsburg returns to action next Saturday and Sunday (9/17-18) at the Carleton Division III Classic at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn.
