MOORHEAD, Minn. --
Ben McClellan (FY, Cottage Grove, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) scored his second goal of the weekend in the third period, but his Augsburg College men's hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game on Saturday afternoon at the Moorhead Sports Center.
McClellan scored his fourth goal of the season at the 10:28 mark of the third period, assisted by
Brandon Bukowski (SR, Superior, Wis.) for Augsburg (6-9-0 overall, 2-4-0 MIAC).
Erick Galt had a goal and two assists for Concordia (8-6-3 overall, 4-2-2 MIAC), while Braden Rahman, Ben Payne and Nick Thielen also scored goals.
Concordia outshot Augsburg by a 30-27 margin. Augsburg goalie
Justin Lochner (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 26 saves, while Concordia goalie Chris Neamonitis had 26 saves.
The Cobbers built a 3-0 lead, on Galt's first-period goal and second-period goals from Rahman and Payne. McClellan scored for the Auggies midway through the third period, but Thielen's empty-net goal with 15 seconds left sealed the win for the Cobbers.
John Lennartson (SR, Burnsville, Minn.),
Tim Serratore (SO, Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek HS) and
Landon Olson (JR, Alexandria, Minn./Duluth Marshall HS) had four shots on-goal each for the Auggies, while
Erik Ordahl (SO, Rochester, Minn./Century HS) had three shots.
Augsburg returns to MIAC play next weekend with a series against Hamline. Friday's (1/20) game is at 7:05 p.m at Ed Saugestad Rink, while Saturday's (1/21) game is at 2 p.m. at the Vadnais Heights (Minn.) Sports Center.
